Privacy policy

This site uses cookies. I am much better at baking cookies than talking about digital cookies, but here it goes…

Using cookies means that a small file is stored on your computer. It helps the swedishspoon.com to remember who you are when you use the site. For example, Google Analytics checks which country your IP address is in, which pages you visit and how long you read.

Look, I have neither interest nor skill for using any collected data to figure out who you vote on or what TV you watch on Thursday night. I use data mainly to check what topics are popular and what you want more of on this site. What countries do readers come from, how long do they stay, and what do they like to read or watch? My intentions are for good.

The site runs on WordPress, hosted by WPEngine. Then there are the site’s third party providers. The main ones are Google (Analytics, etc), Facebook (pixel) and Convertkit.

When you first visited swedishspoon.com, you will have been asked by a pop-up in the footer if you accept cookies or not. If you change your mind and want to get rid of any cookies on your computer, clear the cache.

I do not buy information, email addresses or social media followers, because that just isn’t the way I want to do business. If your email has been added to Swedish Spoon’s list by mistake, unsubscribe or let me know and I’ll remove it. It is a double-opt in system, but either case, I don’t want to email anyone who hasn’t specifically given me permission to do so.

When you give me your email address, I will follow up with you, but you may unsubscribe at any time and you will then be removed from the system. No hard feelings.

This site is for people who are 18 years or older, unless they have parental approval. Not because it should contain any weird stuff or because adults are better at handling large quantities of delicious sweets, but still, no kids unless they have permission.

Any changes in the privacy policy are announced on this page only, because it will be minor. If there is any risk that your email has been shared, I’ll let you know. However, your email is only inside the encrypted Convertkit system, so unless someone hacks Convertkit, it won’t be leaked. Also, I use encryption for the site to keep it secure (so your email address is safe if you leave a comment). Trust me, if someone hacks the site, I have a bigger problem than you do… And I use special authentication to keep hackers out of my own mailbox. Phew, that’s something, isn’t it?

If Swedish Spoon turns into an evil Spectre-empire that harvests data and feeds on innocent newborns, I’ll notify you via email, because that is kind of a big deal. No such intentions or inclinations though – I promise.

I hope you feel safe using the site, but if you have any questions at all, please contact me.
